Ghetto Terrain

As I was playing at home yesterday and as I don't own nor can I store any terrain I had to improvise. I ran out to Michael's and picked up some felt. Three colors to cover all the terrain expected in Warmachine and Hordes.
Brown for hills, green for forests and blue for water.

It worked out very well and was very cheap. I would recommend it to anyone without a way to store any real 3d terrain.

I have heard about using this method before on the PP Fourms. I believe that there is a Press Ganger whose club uses different color felt for all their terrain.

When my wife and I went on a trip to attend a WARMACHINE tournament, we played a practice game the night before at the motel. We didn't have any terrain, so we ended up using plates as hills, a soap dish as a crater, and glasses as small structures. It was funny.

Yea, been there, done that :)

We had, at one point in my Warhammer career, rented an Elks Lodge to play in to boycott our local store in order to affect some changes and the first couple weeks together nobody had terrain so we wnt with the paper cut-out design for hills and ruins. kind of an issue when the door would open and blow them all over :(

the felt worked really well, better than some 3d terrain i've played on because you don't end up with cocked dice or balancing a model precariously on the edge of a piece of terrain. i think with a little work I can give the felt a little more life.
